I grew up in north west London and came to Cambridge as a student.  My wife Polly and I have lived in the area ever since including over 40 years in Great Shelford.  Our four sons attended the village school and Sawston village college.  I worked for technology businesses in the area until retiring 8 years ago.  I am a trustee of Jimmy’s Cambridge, the local organisation for the homeless, and also of the Playscape charity which recently led the development of the new playground for the village.

Great Shelford has undergone significant change during my time here and the pressures on housing, transport and traffic continue to grow.  I believe the economic development of the south Cambridge area offers many good opportunities for enjoyable, well-paid careers for local people; however this development needs to be balanced and controlled to maintain the environment which makes Great Shelford such a great place in which to live.
