The best way to find out what’s important to our community is to talk to people. That’s how our Steering Group will discover what residents like and dislike about our area and how they would like our villages to develop in the coming years. In 2022, we ran an ‘Initial Opinion Survey’ to understand residents’ local planning priorities. We listened to what you said about what’s important to you and developed a draft vision and set of objectives for our Neighbourhood Plan which reflect this.

In April-May 2023 we are running a second phase of community engagement so you can tell us if we’ve got the vision and objectives right, and to give you a chance to comment on some of the evidence base that will underpin our Neighbourhood Plan.

The figure below shows the typical way in which Neighbourhood Plans are created and we are now in the second stage, developing policies and proposals.

Consultation Stages

If successful, our NP will become part of the Greater Cambridge Local Plan and have legal force for the benefit of our community.

Please get involved

If you live or work in Stapleford or Great Shelford, we’d love you to get involved in shaping the place where we live.

There are two ways you can do this:

  • Have your say – as a contributor
  • Activate your community – as a co-ordinator.

  • Act as a point of contact for specific groups – could be schools, clubs, networks
  • Help get the word out about the NP – via email, social media or word of mouth
  • Volunteer at events or on webinars
